Tokyo (September 17, 2013) – Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the second year in a row in recognition of its economic, environmental and social performance.

MEMBER OF Dow Jones Sustainability Indices In Collaboration with RobecoSAM The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are the first global sustainability indices provided by RobecoSAM, the Switzerland-based sustainability investment company, and S&P Dow Jones Indices in the U.S to assess corporate sustainability from economic, environmental and social developments. In the annual DJSI review of the world's 2,500 companies, 333 companies have been listed in the DJSI World and, within the list, 21 are Japanese companies including Konica Minolta.

Konica Minolta has also been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for the fifth consecutive year.

This year Konica Minolta has earned the highest evaluation in the Computers & Peripherals and Office Electronics sector for its economic initiatives including innovation management and risk management. The company has also been praised for its environmental policy and management systems and other environmental initiatives.

Sustainable practices are the basis of Konica Minolta's corporate management both to respond to the needs of customers and society and drive strong growth as a company. Especially Konica Minolta recognizes its potential to make a contribution to the solution of environmental problems by developing innovative technologies that lead to improved environmental performance. The company has been stepping up efforts to measure and reduce carbon emissions associated to its corporate activities across the supply chains. Konica Minolta has calculated the CO2 emissions in its supply chains for the fiscal year ended March 2013, based on the most widely-used international accounting tool, the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. Through that initiative, the company has come to a better understanding of its Scope 3 emissions for indirect emissions including emissions from suppliers and end-users. That will further help Konica Minolta develop future programs to manage and reduce carbon emissions in the supply chains in cooperation with related stakeholders.

With an array of technological advancement, Konica Minolta has developed and provided environmentally responsible products that meet strict requirements, including energy efficiency and the use of recycled or recyclable materials, in the world's renowned eco-labels. Sixteen models of bizhub MFP (multi-functional peripheral) have been awarded the US-based EPEAT*1 “Gold” status*2 . The Konica Minolta bizhub C554e series are the first MFPs of electrophotographic method that meet the newly revised, German-based Blue Angel Mark criteria for Office Equipment with Printing Function*3 (RAL-UZ 171)*4 .

These activities and recognitions are results of, and closely coordinated in, the company's Three Green Activities: Green Products Certification System; Green Factory Certification System; and Green Marketing Activities. They will help Konica Minolta drive its sustainability, enhance the sustainability of its customers and society, and reach the goals in the Medium-Term Environmental Plan 2015.

Besides the DJSI World and DJSI Asia Pacific, Konica Minolta has been included in the FTSE4Good Global Index of the U.K.-based FTSE Group and the Japan-based Morningstar Socially Responsible Investment Index. The company has also been awarded with RobecoSAM Gold Class, as well as with Prime Status by the Germany-based oekom research AG, among the best companies for CSR in its international industry segment.
