WEARABLE DISPLAY

USED SCENE

This is a compact light-weight personal display worn like a pair of glasses and is called a Head Mounted Display or HMD. Konica Minolta's HMD enables you to simultaneously view images on the display while seeing through your surroundings. You can easily and safely enjoy images on the display in a hands-free manner.
(This is a prototype under development, and its introduction on the market has not yet been decided.)

WEARABLE DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY

A wearable display makes you enjoy images anywhere while worn like a pair of glasses. Konica Minolta has developed a compact and merely 27g display by combining a 3mm optical prism with its original hologram technology.
Using wavelength selection function of hologram optical elements, the see-through display enables you to simultaneously view images on the display and your surroundings. This wearable display is still a prototype and its introduction on the market has not yet been decided. However, its availability is increasingly expected as a personal display in the soon coming mobile-ubiquitous age, not only for entertainment but also for operational tasks requiring manual reference.

GLASS SUBSTRATES FOR HARD DISKS

A glass substrate for magnetic hard disks is lighter in weight than an aluminum substrate and exhibits excellent strength and durability, making it most suitable for high density recording. The glass substrate is widely employed in a major 2.5 inch hard disk loaded in severs which require high reliability and high speed access, as well as notebook computers which require durability against physical shock. In recent years, it is also familiar as media for quickly growing handy hard disk audio players. From development of materials to melting, pressing and polishing, Konica Minolta has consecutive technologies to produce glass substrates and is able to promptly provide high quality products.

Hard disks are expected to further increase in speed and density in the future. Konica Minolta, through its long experience in ultra-micro machining and high-precision processing, is developing and manufacturing top-notch glass substrate essential for hard disks.

MICROLENS UNITS FOR MICROCAMERAS/MICROCAMERA UNITS (MCU)

MIcrolens units are increasingly used in mobile phones with cameras, onboard cameras and notebook computers, and are required to be smaller with more sophisticated functions. Through its long experience in optical design technology, aspherical lens molding technology, and micro-optical unit assembly technology, Konica Minolta offers microlens units for microcameras, which meet the market demand. Furthermore, by incorporating Konica Minolta's original piezoelectric actuators, it was able to further enhance functions, reduce size and decrease energy consumption.

In addition, Konica Minolta always persists in superb image quality. This feature is also notable in MCU incorporating microlens unit. Although it is a CMOS camera, images can be achieved even under 5 lux.
Also, cameras having frame rate of 30 frames per second, which is equivalent to telecasting, are still rare in Japan.
