Panda = Red Panda?
Long ago, people called Red Panda, "panda". However, the Giant Panda
became a special beast all over the world, and the word "lesser" means
smaller in English. Today, most English-speakers say "Red Panda". When
we hear the word "Panda" we think of a black and white giant panda.
So, the Red Panda became popular after the Giant Panda and his name was changed...poor,
panda.

In danger for the same reason...
Not very long ago, people said that the Red Panda and the Giant Panda were the
same. Now, people say the Red Panda and the Giant Panda are very different. But
still, they both love eating bamboo and using their thumbs to hold things. It
is very sad, the Red Panda and the Giant Panda are becoming extinct because the
forests are becoming smaller and the Red Panda and the Giant Panda don't have
food or girl pandas to start a family with.
