Gobbled up because they're yummy?!
The Mariana Flying Fox living in Guam and the Mariana Islands is in great danger of disappearing. There are many reasons, like losing forests and being attacked by snakes that came from outside the islands. But the biggest reason is that people ate too many of the Mariana Flying Fox. Actually, the Mariana Flying Fox is famous for its delicious meat. In addition to local people, tourists who come to the islands for sightseeing often orders a rare bat dish. The Mariana Flying Fox has already disappeared from several islands.

Other Flying Foxes are also disappearing...
It's now forbidden to capture the Mariana Flying Fox by law. But other kinds of Flying Fox are imported to the islands to serve bat dishes that are popular among tourists. Flying Foxes often fly away even if they are hit by a hunter's bullet. That means, the number of Flying Foxes being killed is actually much higher than those being eaten. Now the imported Flying Foxes are also in danger of disappearing.
