OLED panels give off a soft light from their entire surface, rival paper in thinness and lightness, and can be flexibly bent or twisted. This page introduces a light installation demonstrating these panels' unique properties.
Joined in pairs, these OLED panels form luminous sets of wings that blink and flutter in time with music. They shift between seven different colors, depending on the angle of viewing. The installation won the “New Light Technology” prize at the 2014 Second Annual Illumination Awards, held by the YAKEI Convention & Visitors Bureau in collaboration with Pia Co.
The flexible OLED panels in this display mimic the curved beauty of a tulip. At night, the softly glowing flower garden is otherworldly, but the realistic-looking tulips are a sight to see even in the daytime when the OLEDs are turned off.
