Thank you for visiting the website of Konica Minolta Opto, Inc.

Konica Minolta Opto, Inc. was inaugurated on October 1, 2003, following the integration of the former Konica Opto Corporation and the optics division parented by the optical system operations of the former Minolta Co., Ltd. Our scope of business can be roughly divided into two categories: optical product development centered on our proprietary, cutting-edge optical technology; and the development and manufacturing of electronic components including triacetyl-cellulose (TAC) films for use in LCD polarizing plates and glass dry plates used for production of shadow masks.

This integration has drastically strengthened our ability to serve the optical market.

While we have been focused on development of aspherical plastic lenses for optical disks, this integration has enhanced our technological repertory by adding the technology for processing glass-mold aspherical lenses; high precision micro prism technology that incorporates ultra-precision polishing technology; and technologies for development of lenses for micro cameras and for the precision control of such lenses. These additions have helped us greatly expand our business operations.

Taking full advantage of such core technologies, we will dedicate ourselves to development, manufacturing, and sales of: state-of-the-art optical elements for optical disk pick-up; lenses for laser printers; zoom lenses for camera/VTR devices; lens units for digital cameras; micro camera units for portable phones and PDAs, micro camera lenses; lenses for projectors; and glass substrates for 3.5-inch magnetic optical disk drives and for hard disks. Needless to say, we will expand and develop our film business based on TAC in our electronic component division.

As the world's leading optical company, we will remain committed to developing more sophisticated optical solutions so that we will always be able to offer highly value-added optoelectronic and optomechatronic materials, key components and devices to our customers. We look forward to your continued support and encouragement.
