MEDIAGLOBE-III(メディアグローブ・スリー)

MEDIAGLOBE-III

MEDIAGLOBE-III is designed for small to medium size domes, features higher image resolution, higher contrast ratio, a newly designed precision fish-eye lens and boasts even more easy-to-use digital planetarium functions than our flagship model, SUPER MEDIAGLOBE-II.

Special Feature 1

MEDIAGLOBE-III Delivers Higher Resolution and The Highest Contrast Ratio of Any Small Dome Digital Planetarium System!

Higher Resolution & Smooth Image

MEDIAGLOBE-III projects a dome image of 1536 pixels, more than 1.85 million dome pixels or 215% more pixels than a 1024 pixel system and 156% more pixels than a 1200 pixel system. MEDIAGLOBE-III's projector utilizes LCoS technology. LCoS projectors deliver a much higher pixel fill factor than DLP projectors. With LCoS, there is no gap between pixels and no "screen door" effect on the dome. The result is a remarkably smooth image.

Higher Contrast Ratio

MEDIAGLOBE-III projects a maximum image contrast ratio of 200,000:1. This high-contrast projection reproduces realistic black levels and ensures that details and depth in dark scenes are expressed clearly and vividly, including brilliant stars set against the blackness of space.

Superior High-Definition Fish-Eye Lens Designed for Dome Projection

Ultimately, it is the projection lens that determines the quality of the image. Konica Minolta developed a unique fish-eye lens for this system using their famous optical design and fabrication technologies. It projects sharp, seamless, non-distorted, high-definition images over the entire dome. This quality lens, perfectly matched to our high-contrast projector, creates incredibly realistic simulations of the universe and faithful reproduction of CG movies and live-action images.

Special Feature 2

Offset Installation is Available

MEDIAGLOBE-III incorporates an image distortion function, which provides offset installation options. MEDIAGLOBE-III can now be installed, not only at the center, but also at other locations in the theater. This capability provides more latitude and freedom regarding the layout of theater seating and makes it even easier to combine the MEDIAGLOBE-III with an existing optical-mechanical projector. This real-time distortion correction eliminates the need to slice or re-render dome master videos.

Special Feature 3

Advanced 3-D Digital Planetarium (Space Simulation) Functions

The 3-D database includes stars down to 12.4 magnitude (118,000 nearest stars), and realistically simulates their proper motion at any time from 1,000,000 BC to 1,000,000 AD. MEDIAGLOBE-III utilizes the comprehensive stellar database from the NAOJ 4D2U Project*. Powerful real-time simulations take audiences through the solar system and beyond; flying through space and time to the 13.7 billion light-year limit of the known universe.

Operating 3-D Space Simulation Is So Easy!

With the “Space Travel” function, you select a departure object, route object and destination object from the celestial objects list. Simply click a button and go! With the “Space Walk” function, you can visit nearby planets and land on their surfaces. Just as easily, you can visit a far-off galaxy using our arrow controls or fly through the Universe with a joystick, as if taking control of a starship.

* NAOJ 4D2U is a project of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. It is a scientific picture of the universe in 4-D (Space-Time) using super computers and the latest observation data from the Subaru Telescope. Konica Minolta Planetarium is a supporter of the project.

Exploring The Universe Has Never Been Easier!

3-D models of major objects including solar system planets, planetary exploration spacecraft, nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies allow operators to project immersive and scientifically accurate simulations of space trips.

Special Feature 4

Display Detailed Surface Data

MEDIAGLOBE-III can display scientific surface data of the Earth, Moon, and Mars. On the Earth you can observe detailed features from 30km above the surface. As an option, you can approach 5km above the surface by using GoogleEarthTM's data to observe the actual photograhic landscape. Photography taken by JAXA's space probe "KAGUYA (SELNE)" is used for the detailed landscape of the Moon's surface.

Special Feature 5

Realistic Representations of Natural Sky Phenomena and Special Effects

In addition to the simulations of stars, constellations, and planets, MEDIAGLOBE-III also projects natural sky phenomena such as meteors, fireballs, clouds, lightning, rain, snow, and aurora. These effects can be superimposed on the background sky, an all-sky image or movie - all at a touch of a button! This remarkable feature allows users to create natural and realistic scenes to immerse and inspire families and students.

Basic Constellation Artwork and Deepsky Objects Are Included.

MEDIAGLOBE-III features images of more than 100 Messier and bright NGC objects as well as artwork, lines, and coordinates for all 88 constellations. The images can be easily accessed at any time for both live and recorded presentations. With a click of a mouse, you can project and use these images in all of your astronomy and space science programs.

Special Feature 6

High Quality Full Dome Projection & Multimedia Functions

Konica Minolta's digital dome technology allows smooth playback of full dome, high-definition movies of 1,536 pixels in diameter. The multi-media functions make it easy to project your digital images (still images and movies) with music or recorded narration. MEDIAGLOBE-III can play any standard video DVD disk without any conversion process. It has never been easier to use the planetarium dome as a multi-purpose theater for presentations or events.

Supports major multi-media formats
- Still Image : BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, etc.
- Movie : MPEG, AVI, MOV, MP4, WMV, etc.
- Sound : WAV, MP3, WMA, OGG, etc.

Variety of content and shows are available.

As an optional item, a variety of short movie clips are available for use in your original presentations. Konica Minolta operates a planetarium theater in Tokyo Japan and created a variety of shows for the theater. These shows will be available for your digital planetarium theater.

Special Feature 7

Powerful New GUI Provides Greater Variety for Presentations

MEDIAGLOBE-III features a new and more powerful Graphical User Interface built upon the famous easy-to-use systems of earlier MEDIAGLOBE models. Its improved customization feature meets the wide-ranging needs of both beginners and experts.

Intuitive GUI Operation Panel

<Text UI> On-Dome User Interface

Instructions for wireless joypad operations are displayed on your dome screen. Now, beginners or audience members can participate in your live presentation.

"Dome Board" - A Blackboard for the Dome

"Dome Board" allows you to place arrows, lines, and letters anywhere on the dome screen. It can easily be used to annotate the starfield or a projected image by adding arrows, lines, circles, or text messages. Simply select a tool and its style, then click the position on the dome chart. Dome Board can also be used in Macros & automatic show productions.

Special Feature 8

Show Creation Function for More Effective Presentations

"Show Director" and Macro function

MEDIAGLOBE-III includes the popular “Show Director” function to assist operators in creating Macro buttons or automatic shows by recording and playing back manual operations. Recorded commands can be modified later to adjust the timing of each command, size of images, location of the objects and more. By preparing a variety of Macro buttons, you can compose your live presentation according to your audience's reactions or requests. Macros can be easily edited to create longer customized shows if desired.
