About Color and Appearance

The textile and dyeing industries are one of the earliest industries which started using color meters.

In dyeing plants, spectrophotometers have been widely used for the preparation of dye compound during the thread or cloth dyeing process, color check of trial dyeing, and on-site color check with a handheld type.

For dyeing plants located remotely, it is difficult to receive the instructions on colors from apparel manufacturers or to send the approval for colors from the plant. If the plant is close, actual samples can be exchanged. If the plant is remote, however, transporting actual samples takes a number of days, and in the worst scenario, samples may be lost. To solve these problems, communicating digital color information obtained with spectrophotometers has become the mainstream instead of communicating color information by exchanging actual samples.

About 3D Digitizing

The apparel industry also has much need for 3D measurement. The fitting simulation on computers now uses 3D images, and the VIVID 3D Digitizer is used for inputting contents as 3D data. There are other potential applications such as dimension measurement for made-to-order shoes and suits, and the measurement of the effect of corrective underwear.
