Developing Method

Since colour copiers use four colours of toner, yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, to reproduce colours, a total of four developing units are required. Here we describe the tandem developing system used by the bizhub Color Series.

• Tandem system
The four developer units are arranged in a row so that developing can be done for all four colours roughly simultaneously. In a conventional colour copier, a single photo conductor drum is used and developing must be done four times, once for each colour. This requires approximately four times as much time as a monochrome copier. With the tandem system, four photo conductor drums, one for each colour, operate at roughly the same time. This makes it possible to produce colour copies at the same speed as a monochrome copier.
