Konica Minolta President & CEO Toshimitsu Taiko Participates in the 2026 United Nations Private Sector ForumCalls for Stronger Public-Private Collaboration to Accelerate the Clean Energy Transition
October 9, 2026
Tokyo (October 9, 2026) - Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that Toshimitsu Taiko, President & CEO, was invited to participate in the 2026 United Nations Private Sector Forum, a high-level meeting organized by the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), held in New York City, USA, on September 20, 2026.
The United Nations Private Sector Forum is an international gathering where top leaders from business, heads of state and government, United Nations leaders and other senior decision-makers come together to discuss solutions to global challenges and advance the realization of a sustainable society. Convened annually by the UN Secretary-General since 2008, the Forum serves as a premier platform for high-level dialogue within the private sector, with participation limited to CEOs of selected companies from around the world.
This year's Forum brought together approximately 150 high-level leaders from the corporate, governmental, and UN sectors. Participants engaged in active discussions on accelerating climate action through the transition to clean energy, expanding the investments needed to support this transition, and strengthening public-private partnerships to advance decarbonization and sustainable development.
At this year’s Forum, participants engaged in intensive discussions on how governments and businesses can work together to mobilize private-sector investment in order to achieve a clean, just, and secure energy transition at speed and scale. Taiko participated in discussions focused on making energy-transition projects in emerging and developing markets more attractive and accessible to investment.
“To promote investment, particularly in developing markets, it is essential to establish a common framework for evaluating the efforts and contributions of individual companies throughout the value chain. Such a framework must take into account the realities and circumstances of developing markets,” Taiko said from the perspective of the private sector. He further advocated practical approaches through which businesses, governments, and UN organizations can collaborate to accelerate private investment in clean energy deployment. Through the outcomes of these discussions, leaders from the business community, governments, and the UN reaffirmed the need for stronger public-private partnerships.
Konica Minolta’s approach to sustainability is based on the belief that the company can grow while contributing to the realization of a sustainable society by addressing environmental and social challenges through its business activities. To this end, the company is actively addressing material issues such as climate change. In addition to monitoring CO₂ emissions throughout the product lifecycle, Konica Minolta uses its contribution to CO₂ emissions reduction as a key indicator and is promoting energy conservation through the digitalization of printing production processes, while also investing in next-generation energy-related technologies.
Going forward, Konica Minolta will continue to actively engage in dialogue with the international community and create value toward solving global challenges, including climate change, through collaboration with government institutions and global corporations around the world.
