Konica Minolta Demonstrates Integrated Digital Radiography and Orthopaedic EMR Solution

Wayne, NJ, March 9, 2010 – This week at the annual meeting of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas USA is demonstrating a new integrated digital radiography and EMR solution tailored to orthopaedic practices. ImagePilot, an all-in-one digital radiography system that includes patient registration, image acquisition, clinical review, distributed workflow, and long term archive, is being shown with an orthopedic EMR from Phoenix Ortho. The solution provides orthopedic surgeons with quick and efficient electronic access to the entire patient electronic medical record, including images, throughout the office. Konica Minolta is demonstrating the newly integrated solution at the AAOS, booth 645.

“As orthopaedic practices convert from analog to digital imaging, they want a turnkey solution that replaces both film and paper,” says Steven Eisner, Marketing Manager, Digital Products at Konica Minolta. “By integrating Phoenix Ortho with the ImagePilot, orthopedists gain a highly efficient workflow that closes the loop from patient scheduling to imaging to billing.”

ImagePilot includes Konica Minolta’s high performance, single bay REGIUS 110 CR reader and AutoPilot image processing featuring single click image acquisition with automatic image registration. The result is superior image quality and consistency on a system designed with dependable, high quality components that ensure system reliability. Konica Minolta has been rated the number one CR vendor by MD Buyline for 18 straight quarters, based on their survey of CR system users across the U.S.

According to Eisner, Konica Minolta chose to work closely with Phoenix Ortho to integrate with ImagePilot because their EMR software offers an efficient workflow designed specifically for orthopaedic practice requirements. Phoenix Ortho also includes OMR (Optical Mark Recognition), document imaging, HL7 and DICOM integration. These features enable it to interface with practice management systems for true closed loop workflow.

By combining ImagePilot and Phoenix Ortho EMR, orthopaedic practices will have the ability to seamlessly transfer patient information from registration through imaging and back to billing, resulting in fewer data entry errors, lost images or missing/incomplete patient information. Clinicians will also have access to high quality images and study results in exam rooms during patient consultations.
