LEWISTOWN HOSPITAL TURNS TO KONICA MINOLTA FOR ADVANCED CR, DR TECHNOLOGY WITH A MULTI-SITE, MULTI-UNIT CONTRACT

Wayne, NJ – October 21, 2008 – Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas USA announced today that Lewistown Hospital in Central Pennsylvania has gone live with the company’s latest CR and DR technology. The multi-unit, multi-site contract for the main hospital and three outpatient imaging clinics includes a REGIUS 370 DR, an upright digital radiography system capable of supporting a wide range of clinical applications for the hospital’s imaging services department; two Xpress CR, the world’s fastest dual-bay CR System; four REGIUS Nano CR systems, high-performance, single-bay units; the compact DRYPRO 832 laser imager; and the versatile DRYPRO 793 laser imager.

The 139-bed hospital chose Konica Minolta after an exhaustive, three-year evaluation that included site visits, product evaluations, and financial analyses. According to Stephen Spearing, CRA, R.T.(R) Administrative Director of Imaging Services at Lewistown Hospital, Konica Minolta was selected based on product quality and ease-of-use. “Konica Minolta’s products met our multi-site departmental needs and more importantly, we saw first-hand at several site visits the high quality images that these systems produce.”

Results of an on-site study comparing four different vendors’ systems also led Spearing and Bonnie Richardson, R.T.(R) (M) Clinical Manager/PACS Administrator of Imaging Services, to finalize their decision. “Konica Minolta’s operational sequences and workflow are much easier to work with,” says Richardson.

“One common user interface for all our radiography needs was another important consideration in selecting Konica Minolta,” adds Spearing.

From a financial perspective, Spearing notes that Lewistown can protect its investment in existing radiographic equipment by adding the REGIUS 370 DR to the facility’s 18-year old Picker X-ray table and generator. One single-bay REGIUS Nano CR is located in the Pre-Admission Testing area of the hospital and three are located at different outpatient clinics that will feed images to a centralized reading room once a new PACS is installed.

“We are honored that an innovative facility such as Lewistown Hospital has selected Konica Minolta as its preferred DR and CR vendor,” says Darren Werner, Marketing Manager Digital Products for Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas. “Most important, Lewistown Hospital validated through site visits and internal studies that our products deliver the highest quality images with an efficient, easy-to-use workflow. This speaks volumes for our commitment to delivering the highest quality products and services.”
