TULANE MEDICAL CENTER GOES LIVE WITH KONICA MINOLTA CR SYSTEMS THROUGHOUT FOUR FACILITIES

Wayne, NJ – September 10, 2008 – Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas announced today that Tulane Medical Center, a member of HCA, Inc., has installed six REGIUS Xpress CR and four Nano CR systems in four facilities that serve the residents of New Orleans and Tulane University students. The purchase was made in conjunction with a PACS from GE Healthcare.

Tulane Medical Center selected Konica Minolta’s Xpress CR and Nano CR based on the systems’ versatility and reliability. Additional system benefits that weighed in on the final purchase decision were the 14” x 51” long-length cassette and Digital Image Stitching software for orthopedic applications on the Xpress CR and the ability to remove jammed cassettes on either the Nano CR or Xpress CR without placing a service call.

“Konica Minolta’s Xpress CR and Nano CR systems meet all our needs throughout the hospital and our two remote clinics,” says Sharon Hafner, MHSA, R.T. (R) (M), Associate Vice President, Radiology and Cardiology, Tulane Medical Center. “The systems are very user friendly and their reliability and uptime is extremely important in our facilities, particularly in the offsite centers.”

According to Hafner, when Tulane’s digital chest room system went down, the center did not have to replace the unit thanks to the high image quality and throughput of the Xpress CR. “We’ve been able to use the Xpress CR as a replacement for the upright DR system, saving Tulane a large capital expense.”

Tulane Medical Center is comprised of two hospitals – the main campus and Tulane-Lakeside Hospital in Metairie – three multi-specialty clinics and one sports medicine specialty clinic. Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine is currently using the Digital Image Stitching orthopedic application while future plans may include implementation of the Xpress CR Radiation Therapy cassette in the Tulane Cancer Center.

“Konica Minolta is proud that leading institutions such as Tulane Medical Center select our CR products based on reliability, image quality and user-friendliness,” says Darren Werner, Marketing Manager, Digital Products, Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas. “The fact that buyers like Ms. Hafner attribute their final decision to our continued top ranking by independent firms such as MD Buyline and KLAS speaks volumes about Konica Minolta’s commitment to superior customer satisfaction.”
