WENTWORTH-DOUGLASS HOSPITAL TAPS KONICA MINOLTA FOR UNIFIED CR/DR PLATFORM

Wayne, NJ, June 19, 2009 – Konica Minolta announced today that Wentworth-Douglass Hospital (Dover, NH) purchased a unified CR/DR solution that combines cassette-less and cassette-based digital radiography delivering a cost-effective, efficient workflow solution. The REGIUS Digital Imaging Suite (RDIS), combines the Konica Minolta REGIUS 370 upright DR with either a Nano single plate or Xpress dual bay CR readers, all operated by a single control station.

“Initially, our plan was to purchase a non cassette DR system, but we realized with the help of Konica Minolta and Associated X-ray that a unified CR/DR solution would better meet our imaging needs,” said Kevin Sweeney, Director of Imaging Services, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. “As a result, we expect to fill an imaging gap for lateral exams through the flexibility of the Xpress CR while maintaining high throughput and DQE for upright chest exams on the REGIUS 370.”

Wentworth-Douglass is installing the solution in its new outpatient imaging and physicians’ offices center. Konica Minolta teamed up with one of its “Strategic Partners”, Associated X-ray Imaging Corp., located in Haverhill, MA, to provide the hospital with a complete digital solution including an X-ray room, a new float-top X-ray table generator and digital acquisition.

“As an existing Xpress CR customer, Wentworth-Douglass was pleased with the reliability and high image quality that Konica Minolta products offer,” says Darren Werner, Digital Radiography Product Manager. “Our RDIS concept also offers workflow versatility at a cost-effective price that gives this facility the ability to handle virtually any imaging challenge.”

The REGIUS 370 DR features a highly advanced Cesium Bromide CsBr phosphor receptor, providing a high level of image quality. Xpress CR is Konica Minolta’s top rated dual-bay CR that lets users customize the system configuration as single-bay or multi-bay based on workflow. One simplified CR/DR control station provides a unified imaging platform that includes Konica Minolta’s patented Hybrid image processing algorithms, which provides superior image quality for even the most discerning radiologists.
