History

Sep, 1958 Manufactured the first planetarium as Chiyoda Optical Seiko Co., Ltd.
Sep, 1963 Planetarium section was established at the technical center of Minolta Camera Co., Ltd in Sakai city, Osaka
Sep, 1978 Developed and sold the medium size planetarium “MS-18AT” with automatic console.
Mar, 1985 The first “Infinium” was put to work at Tukuba Science Expo
July, 1988 Minolta Planetarium Co., Ltd. was established.
Sep, 1994 Development, production and sales functions were integrated from the planetarium department of Minolta Co., Ltd.
April, 2001 Developed and sold Mediaglobe, the world first full color digital planetarium.
Oct, 2003 Company name was changed to Konica Minolta Planetarium Co., Ltd.
Mar, 2004 Re-opened the “Sunshine Planetarium Starlight Dome Manten” at Ikebukuro, Tokyo by direct management.
