Human Capital Strategy

Basic Concept

Amid a macro environment characterized by a shrinking workforce due to a declining birthrate and aging population, advances in digital technologies including AI and robotics, growing demands for a sustainable society, and rapidly escalating geopolitical risks, Konica Minolta has set forth its management vision, “Imaging to the People.” In its Corporate Plan 2026–2028, the Company has laid out a management strategy to achieve an ROE of 8% and build the foundation for achieving an ROE of 10% or higher thereafter.
To achieve this, Konica Minolta regards human capital as the source of corporate value creation. The Company has established a Talent Vision aimed at providing value unique to Konica Minolta through co-creation with all stakeholders—including customers, partners, and society—and driving sustainable growth by ensuring that “talent” and “corporate culture” work in tandem and reinforce each other.
In particular, leveraging diverse talent, one of Konica Minolta’s strengths, is essential. The Company believes that by turning differences into strengths and inspiring one another, its people can create distinctive customer value. As a foundation for this, Konica Minolta also places great importance on providing a safe and secure work environment.
To this end, Konica Minolta is committed to ensuring compliance (appropriate labor practices), ensuring occupational safety and health, and promoting Health & Productivity Management, thereby creating an environment in which diverse talent can fully demonstrate their capabilities.
Through these initiatives, Konica Minolta aims to build an organization in which each individual is highly engaged, can fully demonstrate their capabilities, and thrive. In doing so, the Company aims to remain needed by society into the future and achieve sustainable growth.

Talent and corporate culture form the two wheels, and higher engagement leads to co-creation with all stakeholders to deliver value unique to Konica Minolta and achieve sustainable growth. Strengthening global leadership talent and AI, described as a partner that creates room to think, are placed on either side, with professional talent, the six Values and health management as the foundation.

Strategy, Goals and Results

Key Indicator for Maximizing the Potential of Talent

To continuously track the progress of initiatives toward realizing the Talent Vision and drive further improvements, Konica Minolta has established the engagement score* as a key KPI. Engagement is an indicator that comprehensively reflects factors such as talent development, organizational culture, the utilization of diversity, and a sense of fulfillment at work, and is positioned as an important KPI for assessing the outcomes of human capital management.
To measure engagement, Konica Minolta conducts an annual global survey called “Your Voice” and uses the results to quantify employee engagement.

*Engagement score: The average score for the question, “How likely are you to recommend working at Konica Minolta to someone outside the Company?” in Your Voice (Global Employee Survey; responses on a scale of 0 to 10).

With the aim of achieving sustainable growth by enabling diverse talent to co-create and generate new value, Konica Minolta is advancing a range of initiatives. Over the period of the Medium-Term Business Plan (2023–2025), from FY2023 to FY2025, the engagement score improved from 6.8 to 7.1 on a 10-point scale.

Engagement score*1
Line graph showing the trend in the employee engagement score, with solid lines and filled circles for results and dashed lines and open circles for targets. Results were 6.4 in FY2021, 6.8 in FY2023 and 6.8 in FY2024, rising from 7.0 in October of FY2025 to 7.1 in March of FY2025. The targets are the industry average for FY2026, which stood at 7.3 as of FY2025, 7.5 for FY2028, and reaching the top 25% in the industry by FY2030.
  • *1The average score for the relevant question, “To what extent would you recommend working at Konica Minolta to people outside the company?” in Your Voice (Global Employee Survey; responses on a scale of 0 to 10).
  • *2The target is set in line with industry levels (technology companies worldwide) and is therefore reviewed annually. The industry average at the time the target was set (FY2023) was 7.7, while the industry average based on FY2025 results (the FY2025 target) was 7.3.
  • *3The FY2028 target is set 0.2 points above the FY2026 target (the industry average). For reference, using the FY2025 industry average of 7.3 results in a target of 7.5.
  • *4Based on FY2025 results, the industry average (the FY2026 target) was 7.3, while the score corresponding to the top 25% of the industry (the FY2030 target) was 7.7.

Approach to Realizing the Human Capital Strategy

To realize the Talent Vision and enhance engagement, Konica Minolta is working to strengthen “Talent” and “Corporate Culture” and establish the “Workplace Foundation” in line with its Human Capital Strategy. The concepts and specific initiatives for each area are described on the following pages.

Talent

We are committed to developing talent who continue to learn on their own initiative, take on challenges across business and regional boundaries, and contribute to delivering results.

Corporate Culture

We are fostering a corporate culture in which diverse talent brings out the best in one another and creates new value through co-creation and taking on challenges.

Workplace Foundation

To enable diverse talent to fully demonstrate their capabilities in a safe and secure environment, we are strengthening safety, health, and appropriate labor practices as the foundation of human capital management.
