Measuring Instruments

Giving Shape to Ideas

Changes from previous versions

Changes from Ver. 1.33 to Ver. 1.40

Function additions

1. Easier handling of data stored in portable instrument memory (SensorSync Window display)

When the SensorSync Window is displayed, the measurement data stored in the instrument are automatically read from the instrument and the accumulated data are displayed in the same tree data structure used by SpectraMagic NX for other data.

Item Details
Simplified data copying using drag-and-drop function Easy data handling can be performed by clicking on the data to be read into a file and then dragging and dropping the selected data.
When dragging and dropping target data, measurement data linked in the instrument to the selected target data can also be read in.
When dragging and dropping measurement data, when a target-color or absolute-value folder is dropped, the data can be easily handled in the drop destination.
Easy-to-understand management of measurement data The measurement number associated with each measurement data in the instrument memory can be displayed.
The number is associated with the data even after transferring it to a file, so it's easy to check which data in the instrument memory corresponds to which data in SpectraMagic NX.
Data overwrite confirmation When an attempt is made read in data which has already been uploaded from the instrument, an overwrite confirmation appears. Of course, data can also be read in and used as new data.
Addition of convenient functions for new CM-512m3 Data can be easily deleted by selecting it in the SensorSync Window.
Tolerance values can be set separately for each target color For CR-400 series, CM-500 series, and the old and new CM-512m3, tolerance values can be set in the SensorSync Window.

2. Supplementary data information items can be added to measurements

Supplementary data information such as various part numbers, names, etc. can be attached to measurement data, and can be handled together with the sample data. This supplementary data is important for repeat orders, complaint handling, etc. In addition, in some cases visual evaluation results are also attached to data for acceptance/rejection. In Version 1.4, such information can be added.

Item Details
5 fields for free input of text strings have been added. Different customers require different types of supplementary information such as instrument name, part number, part name, code, name, visual evaluation results, order number, production lot number, customer name, product name, etc. 5 text fields have therefore been added, and the titles for these fields can be edited by the user. Several additional fields for supplementary information have been added, and the titles are user-editable.
5 fields for free input of numerical values 5 fields for input of required numerical values, such as gloss value, dimensions, fastness, yardage, etc. have been added. These numerical values can also be reflected in statistical calculations, trend graphs, etc.
Field for input of visual evaluation results Visual evaluation results can be input, and the results can be reflected in the overall judgment, either in combination with other color difference equations or with priority placed on visual evaluation results.
*
In Version 1.5, it is planned to add capabilities to use these input values for grouping and making lists.

3. Compatibility with Improved CM-512m3

Whether the connected CM-512m3 is an original or improved model is detected automatically when the instrument is connected, and the settable items are adjusted accordingly.

4. Template Window to enable easy selection of template has been added.

Template files can be opened easily by just clicking on the displayed icon.

Item Details
Easy template switching by clicking on icon. Switching between templates can be performed by just clicking on the template's icon in the Template Window.
Pane display method has been added. (Outlook window format) The folder specified by the file path set in the options dialog is automatically read in and classified as a pane for display. Since only template files are displayed, it is easy to search for the desired template.

5. Additional Canvas Views for graph displays can be added (Professional Edition function)

Canvas Views can be added up to a total of 10 views, selectable by the tabs at the bottom of the window. By doing this, it is possible to more efficiently use the canvas window when arranging graph objects, which previously had to be made smaller to fit on the canvas.

6. Strengthening of Canvas Window printing functions

A variety of options for printing, such as printing multiple data, printing data number, etc. have been provided:

Item Details
List screen can be displayed in View screen. An object to allow the List screen to be displayed as an image in the Canvas Window has been added.
List number can be plotted (in each graph object). When plotting data on a graph, the data number from the list can be attached to the graph.
Number of decimal places can be set (for each graph object). The number of decimal places to be shown for each graph scale can be freely set. Based on this setting, the graph display area will be adjusted accordingly.
Size of plotted points can be set (for each graph object) Size of plotted points on each graph object can be set to one of five sizes.
Frame for plotted points can be set (for each graph object). The frame color for plotted points in each graph object can be set.
Color for non-selected points can be set (for each graph object). The color of points which are not selected can be freely set for each graph object.
Display of selected data only can be performed. Each graph object arranged in the Canvas Window can be set to display only the data that are selected.
Application information can be displayed. Application information such as observer, illuminant, etc. can be displayed.
Images can be freely pasted. Images such as company logo, backgrounds, etc. can be freely pasted in the Canvas Window.
Background of each graph object can be set to a transparent color. Each graph object has been given a transparency property. This enables graph objects to be combined by stacking while leaving underlying graph objects visible, so users can combine SCI and SCE spectral reflectance graphs, ?E*ab and ?L* graphs, etc.
Header/footer display has been added. The header and footer can be displayed directly in the Canvas window. In addition, direct editing of header/footer is possible.
Display/hiding of printing layout lines is possible. It is now possible to display or hide printing layout lines. Setting can be performed in the screen setting dialog.
Grid interval can be freely set. It is possible to arrange objects pasted into the canvas window using the grid interval. It is now possible to freely set this grid interval. Setting can be performed in the screen setting dialog.
Print current active Canvas Window. With the addition of this function, the old concept of 3 kinds (List View, Display View, and Printing View) as options in the Page Setting dialog will be discarded. However, since the List View was intended for printing a list of data, it will be retained.
Text label object character count is no longer limited. The limit on the character count for the text label object has been eliminated. In addition, it is possible to change lines using the Enter key.
Display colors for numerical label objects can be matched to colors for numbers in List View. The colors for numbers in numerical labels can be set to match the judgment colors used in the List View.

7. Addition of xy chromaticity diagram

xy chromaticity diagram can now be displayed.

8. Additional List View items

The following display items can be selected:

Item Details
555 (Professional Edition only) Displays 555 shade sorting value
NC# (Professional Edition only) Displays NC# values.
Grade (Professional Edition only) Displays grade values.
Measurer name In security setting mode, the name of the measurer is displayed.
Visual evaluation results The results of visual evaluation can be displayed.
Simulated target color Simulated color for the target color can be displayed.
Measurement numbers in instrument memory The measurement numbers for measurements taken by portable instruments and stored in instrument memory can be displayed.
User equations (4 to 8) Up to 8 user equations can be set. The title for the set formula can also be set.

9. Addition of text import (Professional and Basic Editions)

Text files written in the specified format can be read in. All data read in from text files are set as target data.

10. CM-2600 series: Color assessment item can be selected for instrument display language modes other than Japanese

When the CM-2600 series instrument is set to a display language other than Japanese, Color Assessment will be included in the list of settings which can be selected in the Instrument Settings dialog.

11. CM-3500d: Mask recognition function added

When the CM-3500d is connected, the target mask that is attached to the instrument is recognized.

Changes/Fixes

1. Fixed problem where values for certain indices were not calculated correctly.

In previous versions, when index values are displayed and secondary and/or tertiary illuminants were set, if the set illuminants are among the illuminants that the index required, the XYZ values calculated based on the primary illuminant were used to calculate the index. This problem has been fixed so that the values are calculated based on the set illuminants (if the index can be calculated for those illuminants). When only the primary illuminant is set, there is no change.

2. Windows® 98 SE and Windows NT® 4.0 removed from guaranteed OS list.

In keeping with changes in the environments used by customers, Windows® 98 SE and Windows NT® 4.0 have been removed from the list of guaranteed OS.

3. Skin setting has been eliminated.

Skin setting has been eliminated and XP style will be used.
